Carew must wait for new Villa deal

Carew joined Villa from Lyon three years ago and has 15 months remaining of his current contract.[LNB]The Norway international has often expressed his desire to remain at Villa long term and has a close relationship with the club's supporters.[LNB]But O'Neill is determined to focus on Villa's push for a Champions League spot and FA Cup glory and will not discuss possible new deals with any player until the summer.[LNB]He has already indicated he will offer midfielder James Milner a new deal even though he is less than half way through a four-year contract.[LNB]O'Neill said: "John is coming into good form at the moment and seems to be clear of the little niggling injuries which have affected him this year.[LNB]"I hope he can stay fit between now and the end of the season as we will need him - like we will need everybody.[LNB]"But in terms of contracts I won't be doing anything now - and nor are the players expecting anything - until the end of the season.[LNB]"I was asked about James Milner and that's the first time I've been made to think about contracts.[LNB]"We'll just go on with our aims of trying to challenge for a top four place and we are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup."[LNB]Carew has scored 13 goals this season and a total of 44 in 110 appearances for Villa.[LNB][LNB] Aston Villa v Sunderland.
