Carew confident the goals will flow
John Carew is determined to keep firing in the goals for Aston Villa this season and stay fit for the entire campaign.[LNB] The Norwegian international netted 17 goals during 2009-2010 and has been Villa's leading marksmen for the past three seasons.[LNB]But the 30-year-old striker has also struggled to stay injury-free and wants to improve his record on that front.[LNB]Carew said: "I have scored a lot of goals and hopefully I will continue to score goals this season.[LNB]"I don't set targets. I just set myself giving 100% and being ready to go for when the games begin.[LNB]"The goals normally come by themselves.[LNB]"I am doing my best to be fit and ready for when the season starts so I can't wait to get started again.[LNB]"I will do my best to be available for the team and be an important player for the team.[LNB]"I am looking forward to the season and I am trying to get myself as fit as possible."[LNB]Carew flew out on Wednesday with his team-mates to prepare for the weekend Guadiana Cup matches against Feyenoord and Benfica in Portugal.[LNB]He was accompanied by James Milner who has been the subject of interest from Manchester City including a failed £20million bid.[LNB]Villa manager Martin O'Neill believes the majority of supporters would be happy for Milner to remain at the Midlands club if any possible move to City fails to materialise.[LNB]He is confident Milner would be welcomed back by most supporters in the same way as Gareth Barry was two years ago.[LNB]Barry was then poised to move to Liverpool but instead remained at Villa for 12 months before switching to Eastlands in a £12million deal.[LNB]O'Neill said: "I can understand totally that players would be affected by offers from Manchester City, particularly in this day and age where it looks as if they can get who they want.[LNB]"If you can draw a comparision to Gareth Barry, if it (Milner's move) didn't go through, then, of course, he would feel a possible loss for a little while.[LNB]"But at the end of it all, Gareth settled down and played brilliantly for us.[LNB]"I think the overwhelming majority of supporters, seeing what James did for us last season, would be delighted if he stayed at the football club."
