Bent one of the best - McLeish

ew Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has hailed Darren Bent as one of the "top two or three" strikers in the Premier League.[LNB] Bent scored nine goals in 16 games following his move from Sunderland to steer Villa to a top-half finish in the Premier League.[LNB]His form also established him as a first choice for England, but the 27-year-old come in for criticism after spurning a straight-forward chance in the 2-2 Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland earlier this month.[LNB]McLeish, though, is confident Bent will bounce back from the setback.[LNB]"Bent's got to be up there in the top two or three strikers in the Premier League," McLeish said in the Sunday Mercury.[LNB]"His goals at Arsenal at the end of the season were incredible. People doubted him for England and he's started to score for England.[LNB]"He'll be scrutinised. He's now seen as a top player and the minute he misses a chance for England or has an off game he'll be criticised[LNB]"But it's all part of what I've talked about in terms of having the mental toughness to withstand the flak and just get on with your job."[LNB]While McLeish may be relishing the chance to work with Bent, he knows the striker needs someone to set up the chances following the departure of Ashley Young to Aston Villa.[LNB]He said: "Bent has been sensational but he needs the right service and we need people to supply that ammunition.[LNB]"Young is an international player and had a good relationship with Bent. They looked for each other so we have to find a replacement."
