Beattie ponders £3m Sunderland switch as Black Cats give up on Keane

Moving north: Beattie[LNB]Sunderland have targeted Stoke striker James Beattie after their move for Benjani hit problems and a proposed deal for Robbie Keane was deemed too costly. [LNB]Beattie has travelled to the North East for tonight's match between Sunderland and Stoke and talks were ongoing over a £3m move.[LNB]Sunderland's deal for Manchester City's Benjani has stalled over personal terms and West Ham, Blackburn and Turkish club Galatasaray are monitoring events. [LNB]Blackburn had also expressed interest in Beattie and could now come back in for him.[LNB]They are also speaking to Lens striker Aruna Dindane after his move to Birmingham fell through.[LNB]Sunderland are in talks with Tottenham right back Alan Hutton over a £3.5m move and could revive a loan deal for Aston Villa defender Habib Beye. [LNB]They had also targeted £3m-rated Hamburg defender Guy Demel, but the Ivory Coast international has opted to stay with the Bundesliga club. West Ham are also keen on Hutton.
