Barry makes Villa pledge

Gareth Barry has reiterated that he will stay at Aston Villa if the club qualifies for next season's UEFA Champions League.[LNB] The £18million-rated midfielder was the subject of a summer-long transfer saga as Liverpool attempted to secure his services, but Villa deemed Rafa Benitez's approaches as under value.[LNB]Barry has made no secret of the fact that he wants to play European football at the top level and it was suggested that the England international would favour a move to Anfield in order to guarantee Champions League participation.[LNB]But despite Saturday's home defeat to rivals Chelsea, Villa are well placed this season to upset the 'Big Four', with Arsenal's place under threat, and Barry insists he will be content to stay with Martin O'Neill's side if the current form continues.[LNB]Fresh"There's nowhere else I would want to be playing at the highest level," Barry said in The News of the World.[LNB]"It's easy for me to want Aston Villa to play Champions League football. It is also easy for me to give 100 per cent when I am playing for Villa - and to want them to finish as high as possible [LNB]"It has been great to be loyal to one club for all these years and have that good rapport with the fans. [LNB]"To play at the very top level is even better. The games are coming thick and fast now but I am looking forward to each one of them.[LNB]"I feel fresh because the manager has rotated the squad well."[LNB]
