On-loan Real Mallorca right-back Alan Hutton says he would relish an extended stay at the Spanish club after completing his move from Aston Villa.

The Scotland international joined Mallorca on loan until the end of the season on Tuesday, having not made a single appearance for Villa this term. The Spanish side, who are currently second-bottom of the Primera Liga with only four wins this season, have the option to agree a permanent deal for the defender in the summer. Hutton, who was loaned to Nottingham Forest earlier in the season, making seven appearances, would welcome a longer move. He told the Daily Record:

"It would be a brilliant thing for me to stay on. First and foremost I know I need to prove to everybody what I can give to the team and that I deserve to be here.

"There are a lot of flair players here to deal with. I hope that will help me improve my game and become a better player in the long run.

"This is a great opportunity. It's something totally different to come to a different county and experience so many new things.

"I am happy to be here and looking forward to being involved in what's going on in the future."
