Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has admitted he would like to bring Thomas Hitzlsperger back to the club.
The Germany midfielder played at Villa Park from 2001 to 2005, and is currently a free agent after leaving West Ham following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

'Thomas' name has been mentioned,' said McLeish of the 29-year-old. 'Themidfield, in terms of experience, maybe we are a little bit lacking.'
McLeish will first need to cut Villa's ?80million wage bill and will need to sell before he can buy. The trio of Rangers-target Carlos Cuellar, Luke Young and Habib Beye - who all earn ?40,000-a-week - can leave, as they have just 12 months left on their contracts.
McLeish added: 'But we won't be bringing players in until we trade. We still have a very heavy wage bill and we've got to try and work to adjust that.
'There's players at the club we respect totally, but they haven't played much first-team football and we have to try to let them seek football somewhere else.'
