Charles N'Zogbia may return to the Aston Villa side to face QPR in the Barclays Premier League. The winger has been out with a heel injury but could play some part at Villa Park. James Collins (calf) and Marc Albrighton (thigh) will both miss the fixture while Chris Herd is a long-term absentee with an ankle ligament problem. Villa striker Darren Bent is currently on 99 Premier League goals, and boss Alex McLeish is backing his marksman to grab his 100th on Wednesday.
"It would be great to see him do that," he said. "He's been in good form and was tremendous on Sunday."
However, despite Bent's prowess in front of goal, he is not even top the scorer amongst the current Villa squad.
"The boys were kidding him on, saying Robbie (Keane)'s ahead of him," McLeish said.
"So maybe he's got to chase Robbie and make that his first target."
New signing Djibril Cisse could make his QPR debut. The 30-year-old has completed his move to Loftus Road from Lazio and is eligible to feature at Villa Park, subject to international clearance being received at least one hour before kick-off. Fellow strikers Jay Bothroyd (groin) and DJ Campbell (hamstring) are out, while Heidar Helguson (groin) is a major doubt. Akos Buzsaky (ankle) and Danny Gabbidon (hip) are also doubts, while Armand Traore and Adel Taarabt are on international duty.
Taye Taiwo and Nedum Onuoha could also make their QPR debuts. Manager Mark Hughes does not believe a frantic end to transfer deadline day will have an adverse impact on their performance against Villa. The west London side have been one of the busiest clubs this month and look set for a hectic end to the day.
"[It is] a little bit [problematic] possibly because ideally you want a clear run at the window on the last day," he said.
"You are getting calls and a situation can present itself very, very quickly.
"All the while there are other things going on as well, people are in for medicals and there are a lot of things going on the last day of the window.
"When you factor in a game as well, obviously the window itself becomes very distracting, which it is for the whole month if I am perfectly honest.
"Having to prepare for a game is obviously important from my point of view as it is that my focus isn't taken away from the game, which it won't be. "It is the distractions you have to be conscious of and make sure they don't have an impact on your performance."
