Young swings it in and it is nodded behind for another to be taken by Young. It is cleared out to Petrov on the edge of the area and he goes for a spectacular shot which is wide.[LNB]77 Carew tries to chest down a forward ball while being challenged by Pantsil. The latter bounces off him in rather comedy fashion.[LNB]76 The corner is taken but Cuellar heads clear with some ease.[LNB]76 Young Clark heads behind for a corner. Chance for a Fulham switch and Nevland is of for Eddie Johnson.[LNB]74 Carew's first contribution is to get hauled up for a rather dubious offside decision when clean through on the Fulham goal.[LNB]73 Once again Fulham try and make headway through the middle of the park but there is no joy and Villa easily break up the move.[LNB]73 Reo-Coker off for the home side and Carew is now introduced.[LNB]71 Better from Fulham as Dempsey, Kamara and Pantsil all try and work an opening but the ball just won't sit down and none can get a clear sight of the Villa goal.[LNB]70 Nigel Reo-Coker has been quietly effective all afternoon and another tidy pass keeps possession for Villa.[LNB]69 Young delivers the corner to the back stick and Milner volleys it back into the danger area. It is cleared behind for another corner.[LNB]68 Good ball from Shorey to Young down the left and the winger can run at the defence. His cross is blocked and it goes behind for a corner.[LNB]66 Kamara and Nevland try to create an opening but once again the Villa defence let them get no further than the edge of the box. This time it is Shorey who makes the interception.[LNB]65 It has just started to rain in Birmingham.[LNB]64 Nevland tries to deliver a telling cross from the right but it is far too near to Friedel, who gathers with ease.[LNB]63 Young kicks the ball out sportingly as Greening lies on the floor needing some treatment.[LNB]61 Goal-kick taken by Friedel and Carew looks to have retaken his seat on the bench with his side now further in front.[LNB]59 GOAL AGBONLAHOR: The striker scores with something out of nothing. He picks up the ball, evades a feeble challenge from Greening then beats Schwarzer from around 20 yards low to his left.[LNB]58 John Carew warming up for Villa on the touchline as Martin O'Neill surely looks for more impact up front.[LNB]57 Excellent ball from Etuhu up towards Dempsey but the striker is let down bu his touch and he loses possession in a good area.[LNB]56 Brede Hangeland takes a free-kick from just inside his own half and encourages Nevland to chase it down. The latter does manage to win a throw-in for his side.[LNB]55 Milner tries to inject some urgency into the game as he picks up the ball - his shot from outside the box whistles past the goal.[LNB]53 Free-kick for Villa on the right is delivered to the edge of the box but headed clear comfortably by the Fulham defence.[LNB]52 Better attempt from Dempsey as he trikes it well but it is always on the rise and goes over the bar.[LNB]51 Chance for Fulham though as they win a free-kick 35 yards from the Villa goal in a central position.[LNB]50 Fulham again try to break through the midfield but it is far too slow and Villa can get back and break up any possible attack.[LNB]50 Throw to Villa down the left deep in the Fulham half after Young's run is halted.[LNB]49 Fulham probing from midfield but can't find a way into the Villa box.[LNB]48 Shorey hoists a long ball forward from just inside his own half but it is too hard and goes through to Schwarzer.[LNB]46 Early throw to Villa just inside their own half. They try to break with Milner but his pass down the right flank is easily cut out.[LNB]46 Fulham get the second period under way with plenty of work to do.[LNB]1657 Latest update from Sky Bet sees Villa into 2/9 for the victory. So a bit of a lull at the moment.[LNB]41 Shorey crosses to Agbonlahor in the Fulham area but Greening is there to make the clearance.[LNB]40 Nevland shows some good pace to chase a ball on the edge of the Villa area but his backheel towards Kamara is easily cut out.[LNB]39 Etuhu is the first man in the book after he loses possession to Stiliyan Petrov on halfway and rather jumps on his opponent in a bid to get the ball back.[LNB]38 Clark nearly caught in midfield but Milner steps in and gets the ball under control.[LNB]37 Slick ball to Milner is a bit too firm and the winger can only run it out for a Fulham throw-in.[LNB]35 Villa are a bit hesitant in the middle of the park and Fulham pinch the ball but any danger is relieved when the whistle goes for a free-kick to the home side.[LNB]33 The corner is caught by Schwarzer as Greening heads for the touchline to get a blood injury on his knee cleaned up. He is back on after a brief bit of treatment.[LNB]32 Villa have another good chance for quality delivery as Young is fouled on the left flank. He crosses and Etuhu is lucky to see his attempted clearing header bounce over the bar for another corner.[LNB]31 Agbonlahor looks dangerous on the left flank again and his burst into the box is halted by Pantsil, who has to concede a corner.[LNB]30 Kamara flicks a clever ball around the corner for Nevland to chase but he is crowded out on the edge of the area.[LNB]29 Duff crosses again, this time from the right and Kamara almost gets a head on it.[LNB]28 Duff swings the ball in and Dempsey attacks it. It bounces in the six-yard box but there is no white shirt to get an attempt in on goal.[LNB]28 Space for Duff down the left and he crosses into the centre. Clark takes no chances and head behind for a Fulham corner.[LNB]26 Ball hit forward from the Fulham midfield and Diomansy Kamara produces a clever stepover and dummy. No-one up front though to benefit and Villa can clear their lines.[LNB]25 Average corner from Fulham misses everybody in the middle and there goes out on the far side for a Villa throw.[LNB]25 Fulham's turn to break and they win a corner on the left.[LNB]24 Young delivers the corner and Clark rises highest and heads over the bar, missing the chance of a debut goal.[LNB]24 Young tries to cross from the right but it is deflected and goes for another Villa corner.[LNB]23 Agbonlahor harries the Fulham midfield and forces the error as Paul Konchesky is forced into a hurried pass.[LNB]21 Villa on the attack again and James Milner tries his luck from just outside the box and hits Hughes. The home side press further and Agbonlahor finally sees his header caught by Schwarzer.[LNB]20 Agbonlahor cuts in from the left and shoots right-footed from the edge of the area. Dempsey meets it off balance with his head and the chance goes over the bar.[LNB]14 Carlos Cuellar gives away a free-kick and Clint Dempsey and Duff are stood over the ball 35 yards from goal. Dempsey strikes, hits the wall before Duff has another go and it is cleared by Ciaran Clark.[LNB]12 Shorey threads the needle with a lovely ball to Agbonlahor on the edge of the Fulham area. He shows a nice turn of pace and delivers a decent cross but their are no Villa players able to convert. Young has a knock and looks a bit lame currently.[LNB]11 Villa break swiftly from midfield again down the left. Nicky Shorey crosses from the flank but Sidwell is caught offside in the box as he makes the header.[LNB]10 Duff floats the ball into the area but it is dealt with before going behind for a Villa goal-kick.[LNB]9 Chance for Fulham to attack as they wina free-kick inside the Villa half which Damien Duff will take.[LNB]7 Villa nearly make it two via Sidwell. Sidwell latches on to the loose ball but fieres over from just inside the box.[LNB]5 Early setback for Fulham, who are playing on the back of a midweek trip to Russia on European duty. Plenty of time though to make an impact of their own.[LNB]3 OWN-GOAL PANTSIL: The resultant corner from Ashley Young is fired into the box and the unfortunate John Pantsil heads straight pass Schwarzer from point-blank range.[LNB]3 Aaron Hughes with a clumsy back pass to Mark Schwarzer and the latter has to scramble it behind for a corner.[LNB]2 Habib Beye tries to thread a ball through towards the edge of the box but he is not on the same wavelength as Steve Sidwell.[LNB]1 Free-kick won by Fulham new boy Jonathan Greening as he is harried unfairly towards the touchline.[LNB]1 Villa get us started and a first touch for Brad Friedel as he clears long up the pitch.[LNB]1559 Thanks to Renzo Cordina just before we start: "What ever the odds may be, as a Fulham supporter, I'm glad to see Dempsey back, and I'm convinced he'l gives us a few goals today. 2-1 for Fulham."[LNB]1541 Our first emailer is in touch: "I'm Alex, a Fulham fan, and I'm predicting a tight game here. Villa look like they're packing the midfield to nullify any threat from Fulham and look to get in on the counter attack with their pace on the wings and Agbonlahor up front. Failing that, they have two big men up front in Carew and Heskey to cause us problems. As for Fulham, there's good balance in the midfield with Gera finally dropped for Duff - and Kamara should cause young Clark some problems. Given Villa's 4-5-1/4-3-3, I'd be inclinced to predict a tight game - 0-0 or perhaps a 1-0 either way." Thanks for that Alex.[LNB]1533 Here is the match preview: Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill handed a debut to central defender Ciaran Clark in the Barclays Premier League meeting with Fulham. Clark replaced Curtis Davies who suffered a recurrence of his shoulder problem during the Europa League play-off with Rapid Vienna in midweek. New signing Stephen Warnock had to be content with a place among the substitutes. Fulham boss Roy Hodgson brought in midfielder Jonathan Greening for his first appearance after signing from West Brom, initially on a season-long loan but strikers Andrew Johnson and Bobby Zamora remain sidelined through injury.[LNB]1526 Any thoughts on the outcome in what should be a decent clash?
