Aston Villa striker Andreas Weimann was full of praise for strike partner Christian Benteke after Saturday's 3-1 win at Liverpool.

Both players found themselves on the score sheet in the victory at Anfield, with Belgian international Benteke grabbing a brace and setting up Weimann's goal with a back-heel. It was Weimann's third league goal of the season and he says he is enjoying playing up front with Villa's summer signing.

"Obviously for myself it is great to play with someone like Christian. He wins the ball and holds up and is scoring goals as well," said Weimann.

"You have seen that the last few weeks he has been outstanding for us up front. He is such a physical presence and I am sure if he continues he will be a tough player to face."

The Austrian is also hoping to maintain his place in the first team, saying:

"I obviously want to stay in the team and I feel we've worked well in the last few games. I hope it can be a breakthrough season for me.

"I've played a lot of football lately and that's the first time I've really been doing that regularly with the first team, to get that many games."
