Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert admits the injury situation at the club is not helping his preparations ahead of the crucial Premier League clash against Wigan at the weekend.

The West Midlands outfit could be missing as many as five players for the Villa Park clash this Saturday. Ron Vlaar, Andreas Weimann, Nathan Baker, Charles N'Zogbia and Gabriel Agbonlahor are all injury doubts while striker Darren Bent is still a week or two away from returning. Skipper Vlaar has been struggling with an ongoing calf injury while Austrian forward Weimann has been suffering from the same problem. Baker (hamstring) was taken off during the 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Tottenham while N'Zogbia has been out with a knee injury and Agbonlahor has had hip problems. Lambert told the club's official website:

"The injury situation is not helping us at the minute. There are a lot at the football club. You have just got to go with what you have got though.

"With Ron, I don't know. He's doing alright at the minute, but has not played since Arsenal (24 November).

"He has not trained with us. He's still working on his rehab.

"Nathan has a hamstring problem. We don't know how bad it is. Andreas has injured his calf.

"Gabby still has a problem with his hip area and with Charles it's his knee. They are still struggling a bit.

"I am not so sure (N'Zogbia will be back for Wigan). I don't think there will be many of them coming back."
