Aston Villa assistant manager Gary McAllister tells Sportsmail some of his secrets - everything from his sporting hero, to favourite karaoke song and the last film he saw.[LNB] WHO IS YOUR SPORTING HERO?The one who made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up was Seve Ballesteros. [LNB]I watched him at the first Ryder Cup at the Belfry in 1985 on the putting green and he walked inside the clubhouse. Everybody stopped. You could feel the aura.[LNB]WHAT WOULD YOU BE IF YOU WEREN'T A SPORTSMAN?I enjoyed technical drawing at school. So I'd have been something like a draughtsman or an architect.[LNB] Ultimate hero: McAllister's sporting hero is golf legend Seve Ballesteros [LNB]WHICH OTHER SPORTSMAN WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE?I was a scratch golfer as a kid. I was decent in my area but I when I went to play in the British Boys' championships, I was up against guys who were at another level. [LNB]So I'd like to have been a top golfer, but couldn't single one out.[LNB]CAREER HIGHLIGHT?Although I won the league with Leeds and a treble with Liverpool, when you captain your country and hear Flower of Scotland like I did against Switzerland at Pittodrie in a European Championship qualifier, that's the proudest moment.[LNB]Top of the pots: McAllister celebrates Liverpool's UEFA Cup win in 2001[LNB]...AND THE WORST MOMENT?Euro 96, Wembley, versus England, that penalty. I've never been one to look for excuses. But the ball did move.[LNB]To this day, people are still coming up with theories as to why. I believe there were vortexes swirling around that caused it to move.[LNB]IF YOUR HOUSE WAS BURNING DOWN, WHAT ONE POSSESSION WOULD YOU SAVE?I'd get my putter. I've had it since I was 10.[LNB]FAVOURITE KARAOKE SONG?A wee bit of That's Life, by Mr Sinatra. I've done it several times.[LNB]THREE MOST-LISTENED TO SONGS ON YOUR IPOD?I don't have an iPod but the songs I'd listen to most would be That's Life by Old Blue Eyes, Heroes by David Bowie and In the City by the Jam.[LNB]LAST FILM YOU SAW?The Expendables with Stallone, Willis and Schwarzenegger. There won't be many Oscars handed out for it, but it was very watchable.[LNB]CAN YOU COOK? BEST DISH?My best dish would be a fish stew, more like a French Bouillabaisse or Portuguese Cataplana, that type of peasant fish dish.[LNB]IN A FILM OF YOUR LIFE, WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO PLAY YOU?People have said there's a wee bit of Nicolas Cage about me. I'm not so sure[LNB] The Expendables: McAllister watched Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone star on the big screen[LNB]WHAT'S THE MOST EXPENSIVE THING YOU'VE EVER BOUGHT?I collect watches. I've got one from world-renowned Swiss watch-makers Patek Philippe but I'm not going to tell you how much it cost.[LNB]TELL US A SECRET...Before Euro 96, we went to New York. Gordon Strachan was very friendly with Rod Stewart. He left us 40 tickets when he was playing Madison Square Garden. [LNB]He invited two or three of us on stage with him. So, when he sang Purple Heather our song for Euro '96, Ally McCoist, Billy McKinlay and myself were singing with him, messing around with air guitars. [LNB]Twenty-six thousand Americans didn't have a clue who we were.[LNB]Gary McAllister was speaking on behalf of Acorns.  Young and Downing are not going anywhere!
