    Totti supports Berlusconi

    16 Dec 2009 - 07:06:50

Roma talisman Francesco Totti has offered his support to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who was attacked at a political rally on Sunday.

Berlusconi was hit in the face by a model of the Milan Duomo and was hospitalised after suffering cuts to his mouth, including damaged teeth.

Totti said on his official website: "What happened in Milan, with Prime Minister Berlusconi being attacked, represented something sad and worrying.

"Expressing their own opinions or even dissent through brutal actions like that is never, never justifiable.

"I find compelled, as a sportsman, to say loudly and clearly 'no' against any form of violence.

"Right now I feel really close to Berlusconi's family, and particularly to my friend Pier Silvio (Berlusconi's son), and I send my warmest wishes for our PM to get well soon."
