Totti handed injury boost

AS Roma captain Francesco Totti has been boosted by the news that he did not suffer a serious knee injury during Sunday's 2-0 win over Parma.

The 33-year-old playmaker was taken to hospital for scans amid fears of a serious injury to his troublesome right knee.

However, he has now been told to rest up before returning to action when Serie A resumes in the New Year.

"I was scared, but I am happy that it is nothing serious," said Totti. "I think I will be available when the season re-starts in the new year."

Last week Totti finally out pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him with the Giallorossi until 2014.
