AS Roma stoked up the pressure on Serie A leaders Internazionale with a thrilling 3-2 win over Genoa in the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma appeared to be heading for a comfortable victory when Rodrigo Taddei and Mirko Vucinic gave them a two-goal lead within 17 minutes of the start.
However, the game turned around just before the hour mark as both Marco Rossi and Julio Leon netted for the visitors to make the 2-2.
Roma then needed a penalty ten minutes from time from Italy midfielder Daniele de Rossi to secure a vital win.
Coach Luciano Spalletti said after the victory: "We proved that we have real heart. After the equaliser my team began again as if it was a new game.
"The result was deserved even though we struggled, but Genoa play good football, so that was only to be expected."
In the day's other game, AC Milan saw off lowly Cagliari 3-1 at the San Siro, with Kaka opening the scoring and Pippo Inzaghi adding a clinching double.
