Roma confirm Toni calf woe

AS Roma have confirmed that Luca Toni is facing at least four weeks on the sidelines with a grade one or two calf muscle strain.

The Italy striker last just eight minutes of Saturday's 2-1 Serie A win over Juventus before limping off.

The January signing from Bayern Munich has now joined fellow frontmen Mirko Vucinic and Francesco Totti in the treatment room at the Stadio Olimpico.

"AS Roma notes that Luca Toni underwent instrumental tests at the Gemelli Polyclinic on Monday following the injury he sustained in the last league match," read a club statement.

"The examinations identified a grade one/two muscular lesion.

"The player has started rehabilitative therapy and his condition will be evaluated over the next few days."
