Motta confident of title push

Roma defender Marco Motta still believes his side can overtake Internazionale and clinch this season's Serie A title.

Despite making a dreadful start to the current campaign, which resulted in Luciano Spalletti's departure as coach in September, the weekend win over Catania coupled with Inter's draw against Sampdoria left Roma just five points adrift of the long-time leaders.

After securing their seventh successive Serie A victory, Motta said: "After losing against the Greeks (Panathinaikos in the Europa League) we really needed the three points to maintain the pace with the league leaders," Motta told Forzaroma.info.

"We need to take points away from Inter as the lead is now five points and the league poses many challenges for everyone."
