More surgery for unlucky Totti
27 Oct 2009 - 07:27:41
Roma captain Francesco Totti has been forced to undergo surgery on his latest knee injury and could be sidelined for up to a month.
The 33-year-old former Italy international has been out of action since early October, when he limped out of the 2-1 home win over Napoli, having scored both of his side's goals.
Totti had hoped to return without the need for surgery, but suffered a setback in training on Monday.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Today Francesco Totti underwent a medial meniscectomy arthroscopy in his right knee.
"The surgery was necessary after the player had problems during training. In the course of the surgery, no problems of any other nature (ligament or cartilage) were found.
"The player will be discharged tonight and will begin tomorrow rehabilitation. A return date will be determined depending on the player's condition."
