WORLD CUP 2010: William Gallas crashes dune buggy

France coach Raymond Domenech breathed a sigh of relief after William Gallas escaped serious injury in a buggy accident. [LNB]Gallas is battling to recover from a calf injury in time for the World Cup but the Arsenal defender almost wrecked his chances of appearing when he rolled a dune buggy in the French Alpine resort of Tignes. [LNB]The players had finished training on Sunday and were enjoying some down time when Gallas had his bump. [LNB] Defenders can't take corners: Gallas tipped his buggy as the players relaxed[LNB] The 32-year-old received minor scratches to his hand after sticking his arm out of the vehicle to break the fall. [LNB]The French face Costa Rica in a friendly on Wednesday and, speaking before Gallas' crash, Domenech said: 'It is hard to say whether he has fully recovered (from his calf injury). But from what I've seen him do here so far, we can be optimistic.[LNB] [LNB]Team game: Gallas had to be helped out of his buggy after his accident[LNB]'But it is a calf injury and you never know what can happen. We still have four training sessions left to see how he is. [LNB]'We will see whether he should play from the start (against Costa Rica), come on at half-time, or play a bit of the match.'[LNB] Gael Clichy stressed the importance of having his club and international team-mate fit. [LNB]The full-back said: 'William is the man in our defence, we need him. He is a strong person with a strong character.
