WORLD CUP 2010: Mesut Ozil not put off by transfer talk as Germany ace targets trophy

15 June 2010 02:02
Germany star Mesut Ozil is refusing to be drawn on his future until after the World Cup.

Ozil caught the eye as he engineered his side's 4-0 win over Australia in their opening game and has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

The 21-year-old playmaker is under contract at Werder Bremen until 2011 and it has been reported he has agreed a new deal with the Bundesliga outfit.

But he said: 'I am under contract until 2011, but all that interests me now is the World Cup because as a team we have goals. That is all that matters.

'Our dream is to win the title, that is why we are here.'

Eyes on the prize: Ozil was the star man as Germany cruised past Australia

Germany manager Joachim Loew paid tribute to Ozil ahead of facing Serbia in Port Elizabeth on Friday.

'He is a player that fits perfectly with my ideas,' said Loew. 'He plays a very high level, he can win the ball easily and then produce a telling shot.

'He is a playmaker and can produce some passes which split defences.'
