Arsenal all but secured their place in the last 16 of the UEFA Champion’s League after beating Marseille 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Two goals in either half by England midfielder Jack Wilshere means that Arsene Wenger’s team sit on top of group F comfortably.

The gunners will travel to Napoli in a fortnight knowing that only a point will be enough to clinch top spot in what has been a tough group,

It only took 28 seconds for Wilshere to break the deadlock after cutting in from the right flank and curling the ball in the top corner past the helpless Steve Mandanda.

Aaron Ramsey won a penalty but Mezut Ozil’s weak attempt was parried away easily by the Marseille Keeper.

Ozil made amends later as he turned provider, playing the ball across the penalty area for Wilshere to smash home his second goal of the night.
