What do we know about the Wales National Team? They only have 1 World Cup Finals appearance and that was back in 1958, when the World Cup was held in Sweden. They only have 1 UEFA Euro Finals appearance, when they finished first in their group and lost in the quarterfinals. There has never been much success in Wales but their future looks ever so bright.
Wales played Macedonia during the recent international break and won 1-0. We know that Wales will probably not qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil but now they can look forward to the 2018 qualifiers. They have young talent who will be in the prime of their careers once qualifying starts and with that young talent, they will win games.
Gareth Bale. We all know about Gareth Bale. This summer, he left Tottenham for Real Madrid for a €100 million transfer fee (which I still think is absurd, but that is besides the point). He scored 30 goals in 53 games last season in all competitions for Tottenham and 4 of those goals came during WCQ with Wales. Bale is now playing with Real Madrid and he will only get better. He’s playing with some of the best talent (e.g. Cristiano Ronaldo) in one the best leagues in the world. And he’s only 23 years old! This kid is going to help bring success to Wales, you just watch.
Aaron Ramsey. Aaron Ramsey has really come into his own this season with Arsenal. He already has 8 goals in 11 appearances this season, compared to just 2 in all competitions last season. He was the recent winner of the Premier League Player of the Month for September and Arsenal is rolling, thanks in a large part to Ramsey’s success on the field. Aaron Ramsey is only 22 years old as well and with a season that he is having thus far, it’s good to guess that he is going to be one of the best players in the world once 2018 World Cup qualifying comes around.
Simon Church. Simon Church is another young striker (24 years old) for Wales and Charlton Athletic. He scored his first goal for Wales during WCQ against Macedonia in the 1-0 win. He’s off to a good start with Charlton in the League Championship with 2 goals in 9 appearances. If he continues his fine play, he might find himself on a new team next season playing in the Premier League.
All I want to say is, look out for Wales when the start qualifying for the 2018 World Cup. These three players are going to be in the peak of their careers and will only help Wales during their qualifying campaign.
