Why parting ways would benefit both Wilshere and Arsenal

Rumors have recently arisen pertaining to the fact that Manchester City has become very interested in obtaining the services of Jack Wilshere. However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has just come out, after being asked about the situation, and explained to talkSport that the Arsenal midfielder is not for sale.

"You can imagine my answer, we are not in a position anymore where we have to sell our best players.

"We cannot make a headline from anything in a press conference from something which is not true."

So, having heard what Wenger has said about the situation I really wonder why Gooners fans anywhere would fancy keeping him on rather than finally cutting ties with a midfielder who, although he has shown flashes of brilliance, has not yet lived up to his expectations. But, yes, games such as THAT one against Barcelona a few campaigns back do show that he is a brilliant footballer. I can understand The Gunners not wanting to sell yet another of their talents to their direct rivals as well. Clichy, Adebayor, Sagna and, of course, Nasri have all moved North recently. But, a plethora of injuries and quite literally years on the sidelines have hampered Wilshere’s development in North London. Additionally, with the way Arsenal is playing at the moment, would he even get into the team?

There is also the question of money and Manchester City has plenty of it. Recently, due to the homegrown restrictions, City has expressed an innate interest in signing Englishmen. So, it would take 30 million by my estimations to change his strip to sky blue. That is quite a lot of money for Arsenal to spend on a replacement who does not carry the baggage pertaining to both the on and off field issues that Wilshere and his club have had to deal with. For me it is just a no brainer. A parting of ways could be beneficial for both parties but will be for Arsenal without a shadow of a doubt.
