[LNB]Inter Milan have been linked with a shock swoop for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. [LNB]Reports in Italy say the European champions are ready to offer £32.5million for the Gunners captain - a fee in the region of that already rejected when Barcelona came calling for Fabregas earlier this summer. [LNB]Inter's bid looks certain to fail so close to Tuesday's transfer deadline, but that has not stopped Rafa Benitez dreaming of one final transfer coup. [LNB] Shock move: Cesc Fabregas is wanted by Inter Milan[LNB]More funds could be made available if Real Madrid pull off the last-minute signing of Maicon for up to £25m, with reports in Italy and Spain suggesting the deal has been revived for Jose Mourinho to take the Brazilian to the Bernabeu. [LNB]Inter's offer for Fabregas is said to be £28.5m plus former Portsmouth midfielder Sulley Muntari, but the Ghanaian could be offloaded elsewhere if Arsene Wenger is not tempted. [LNB]San Siro outcast Muntari has also been offered to Tottenham and his rated at about £4m despite signing from Pompey for £12.7m two years ago.[LNB]Inter have some money to spend after missing out on Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano, who joined Barcelona, but reports suggest they want a big star or nothing. [LNB] Back to England: Rafa Benitez is eyeing a shock raid on the Premier League[LNB]Fabregas fits the bill but has committed himself to Arsenal for the immediate future and is still hankering after a move to Barcelona in the long term. [LNB]An alternative would be the equally difficult to sign Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan. [LNB]Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport says that the bid for Fabregas is not dependent on Maicon leaving and, should the Brazilian go, a late bid could also be made for Spurs wide man Gareth Bale. [LNB]The Wales international is highly regarded in Italy and seen as a player who can operate on either the left or right of defence, as can Inter's promising Davide Santon, who will play instead of Maicon against Bologna on Monday night. [LNB] We're Inter you: Diego Forlan is wanted by Benitez[LNB]Maicon's absence from the squad for Inter's Serie A season opener has got the rumour mill churning, but the club insist he has a knee injury and his agent Antonio [LNB]Caliendo said: 'Maicon was not called up because of a physical problem. [LNB]'Real did not ask for him again and I doubt the talks can re-open two days before the deadline, but the transfer market is unpredictable and you can never say never.'[LNB] Carson and Upson back for England as Capello's defensive crisis bitesWilshere arrested after woman suffers broken arm on night out in LondonBlackburn 1 Arsenal 2: Fabregas back in starting line-up as Gunners triumph[LNB]
