Wenger's Gunner Need some more firepower - Three strikers Arsenal should consider

14 November 2013 09:18

Arsenal are proudly perched at the top of the league coming into the international break. Two points ahead of Liverpool, pretty reading for Arsenal fans. But a fantastic string of results, including a memorable 1-0 win away to Borussia Dortmund came to a stuttering end at Old Trafford on Sunday past. Manchester United’s Robin Van Persie condemned his old side to a 1-0 defeat, ending Arsenal’s 14 game unbeaten run.

The game itself saw chances few and far between for Wenger’s table toppers. Frenchman Olivier Giroud, who has led the line well for the Gunners this season posed no threat to United’s defence - last throw of the dice for Wenger, was to throw on Nicklas Bendtner….

I'm sorry, Arsenal can boast about their great midfield, the likes of Ramsey, Ozil and Wilshere are exceptional talents, but the fact that Dane Bendtner is Arsenals only back-up striker should worry Gunners fans.

Manchester United has Van Persie and Rooney, City boast Negredo and Aguero, Liverpool have Suarez and Sturridge in their ranks, deadly duos indeed.

With fears are growing over Olivier Girouds workload - Here are three marksmen Wenger should look to when the window opens January, to help with the genuine title push.

1.) Karim Benzema – Real Madrid

Karim Benzema could join Arsenal, following the footsteps of former Real team mate Mesut Ozil at the Emirates. Key to any potential deal would be Real Madrid's pursuit of Liverpool's Luis Suarez, if Real get their man, Benzema would be given the green light for a move to Arsenal. At 25, his best years are ahead of him; the Frenchman is a great finisher and possesses serious strength. Arsene Wenger is reportedly interested and is weighing up a £27 million offer.

2.) Edin Dzeko – Manchester City

Dzeko has fell behind the pecking order under Pellegrini due to the form of Sergio Aguero and the arrival of Alvaro Negredo – in my belief he is a man too prolific to be sitting warming the bench for Manchester City. A proven goal scorer in the Premier League, Arsene will know what he’s buying – goals. Inter Milan are reportedly interested in the unsettled Bosnian.

3.) Javier Hernandez – Manchester United

Like Dzeko at City, the form of others has seen the Mexicans first team chances at United limited, Van Persie and Rooney. But when ‘’Chicarito’’ is given the chance at Old Trafford, he usually scores goals, According to the Daily Mail The Gunners have compiled an extensive dossier on the Mexico striker following numerous scouting missions. He is the kind of ‘’fox in the box’’ player the Gunners are crying out for.
