    Wenger vows to fight charge

    26 Dec 2009 - 13:33:08

Manager Arsene Wenger has vowed to fight an FA charge handed to Arsenal for failing to control their players in the recent 3-0 victory over Hull City at the Emirates Stadium.

The game sparked to life just before half-time when Samir Nasri trod on the foot and ankle of Richard Garcia, with players from both sides becoming involved in ugly confrontations.

However, Wenger told his club's official website: "I think it is harsh but we will try to defend ourselves. I don't think it was a major incident compared to what can happen in a football game.

"At the start, the incident was created by Nasri's involvement, but after that it was more players of Hull who were around it than Arsenal players.

"That's why we will try to defend it."

Tigers boss Phil Brown has already stated that his club will fight the charge, saying: "For us to come under criticism is absolutely scandalous and we'll be defending it.

"We conducted ourselves in the right manner right the way through the game."
