    Wenger retains title hope

    22 Mar 2009 - 11:43:34

Arsene Wenger is refusing to give up on Arsenal's title chances following Saturday's 3-1 victory over Newcastle United.

The Gunners moved to within ten points of Premier League leaders Manchester United following second-half goals from Niklas Bendtner, Abou Diaby and Samir Nasri at St James' Park.

Arsenal are now unbeaten in 16 consecutive Premier League games and Wenger still believes his fourth-placed side could upset the odds and stage a late charge for the title.

Speaking after Manchester United and Chelsea both lost on Saturday, he said: "It was a good opportunity for us to take advantage of that and get closer to the top.

"You never know, even a chance out of a billion, we want to fight to come back as close as we can to the team which is top.

"We feel we are in a very good run and we are improving from game to game.

"It was a very good football game. Newcastle played well as well because they had a very good first half and put us under pressure.

"But in the second half we kept the tempo very high and slowly took over and finally managed to win the game in a very convincing way."
