Arsene Wenger believes his Arsenal side can gain confidence from Sunday's dramatic 2-1 victory against Fulham at the Emirates Stadium.
Jens Lehmann's error allowed David Healy to fire the Cottagers into a first minute lead and only two goals in the last six minutes salvaged the three points fro the Gunners.
A relieved Wenger said: "The players were giving everything to win. As long as you have that in a team, you have hope.
"Nobody could ever measure it in terms of psychology, but it is important.
"You can get momentum from these things, and especially belief. They never give up any more.
"To have lost the game would have been a big blow for the team because everyone would have said it was after Thierry Henry had left.
"This is the kind of result that can change a season for a team. It is a positive start."
Of Lehmann's error, Wenger added: "Every goalkeeper can make a mistake. He made one. If you are an outfield player you are not punished, but you are in goal."
