Wenger questions Silvestre role
16 Dec 2009 - 10:45:58
Arsene Wenger has conceded that a lack of first-team action could see Mikael Silvestre leave the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.
Silvestre, 32, is out of contract in the summer and may decide to seek fresh pastures following his limited role this season.
The former Manchester United defender has made just two substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners and finds himself behind William Gallas, Thomas Vermaelen and Philippe Senderos in the pecking order.
"I have a meeting with Silvestre in March," said Wenger. "We have a common agreement to meet then and see where we go from there.
"It's linked with the number of games he gets before then. He is a remarkable influence in the squad but he must be happy.
"Thomas Vermaelen is in front of him. Will he be happy if he does not get the games? I am not sure."
