    Wenger preaches caution

    20 Sep 2007 - 08:17:58

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has warned his players not to get carried away by their excellent start to the season in the wake of Wednesday's 3-0 Champions League success over Seville.

The Gunners are currently leading the Premier League and strolled to victory over last term's UEFA Cup winners thanks to goals by Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and Eduardo.

But Wenger insisted: "Well, we have to keep our feet on the ground and believe we can improve in a lot of areas.

"We lost balls we shouldn't have lost, we were one or two times defensively not clean enough, so we can improve in all areas - but there is a real spirit in the team and that's fantastic to see.

"Our start is maybe a bit unexpected by you [the press], but to start well in the championship and to start well against Sevilla is nearly perfect, because we dropped two points.

"But overall I am very happy with the spirit, our display, and tonight we played against a very good side.

"We were maybe a little bit lucky on the first goal but overall in the second half I thought we controlled well the game up to 2-0, after Sevilla came back.

"We looked like never really being under threat in the second half. Maybe the 3-0 is a little bit harsh for Sevilla and a little bit flattering.

"But it is like that when you are 2-0 up with five minutes to go, you know that Sevilla has to come out and you have a chance to score a third goal But overall we didn't concede and we looked more mature tactically for 90 minutes than one year ago."

One piece of bad news from the game concerned Tomas Rosicky who will be sidelined for at least two weeks with a hamstring problem.
