Wenger fury at costly decision
09 Feb 2009 - 07:21:23
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger accused referee Mike Dean of costing his side two points after disallowing a goal during Sunday's 0-0 derby draw with Tottenham.
Wenger was incensed after Dean ruled out Emmanuel Eboue's strike in the 13th minute at White Hart Lane for a foul on Spurs defender Jonathan Woodgate.
Eboue was later sent off for two bookable offences, but Wenger's anger at the full-time whistle was focused on the referee.
He said: It's two points dropped because we had the best chances and we had a regular goal that was cancelled by an illusionary foul seen only by the referee.
"I've seen it three times on television and I still don't see what is wrong, that is why at the end of the day it is frustrating.
"He has seen a push from Eboue but in fact it is Woodgate who has pushed him as well and stumbled over (Emmanuel) Adebayor and falls down.
"You see it again and it is nothing, it is not acceptable in games like that. It is not serious."
