Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that French defender William Gallas is likely to miss the rest of the season due to a recurring calf injury.
The 32-year-old centre-half returned to action in the 2-2 midweek Champions League draw with Barcelona, but lasted only 45 minutes before being stretchered off at the Emirates Stadium.
Wenger told reporters: "Gallas is longer than three weeks, I would say five weeks.
"It was a gamble which did not pay off and was a mistake, yes.
"He could be back maybe quicker, but I just give myself five weeks because three weeks is a minimum and we will have to be a bit more cautious with him.
"So when we go to the Champions League final, he still has a chance to play."
Former Chelsea and Marseille stopper Gallas is out of contract in the summer and has been strongly linked with a move away from the Gunners.
