Wenger: Arshavin will feature

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that recent signing Andrey Arshavin will feature against Sunderland this weekend.

The 27-year-old Russia international has been in intensive training since his arrival from Zenit St Petersburg and Wenger feels Arshavin is fit enough to play some part against the Black Cats.

He told the club's official website: "He will be involved, but I have not decided what I will do with him yet.

"He is still working on preparation and he is not qualified for the Champions League game against Roma, so we can give him another week of hard work.

"At the end of next week, that will be three weeks with us and one week with Zenit, that should be enough."

The presence of Arshavin will make up for the absence of Eduardo, who suffered a minor hamstring problem after scoring twice on his comeback from long-term injury against Cardiff City.
