Wenger - Takeover not an issue

Arsene Wenger is not concerning himself with the ongoing takeover talk which rumbles on at Arsenal. American sports magnate Stan Kroenke is reported to be preparing a bid to claim control of the North London outfit. The billionaire businessman is now the single largest shareholder in the Gunners, with his stake having recently risen to 28.86 per cent. He will be forced to launch a formal takeover bid should his holding in the club rise to 29.9 per cent. Arsenal have previously been reluctant to consider such a move, but the ever-increasing demands of life in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League could force their hand. Wenger claims he would have no problem with a new face taking charge at Emirates Stadium, insisting his focus remains solely with matters on the field. Interference "For me the only important thing is that the club is run properly in every department," the Frenchman told Sky Sports News. "The most important department in any football club is what is happening on the pitch, so as long as whoever owns the club doesn't interfere with what we do on the pitch, it's OK." Wenger's main concern at present is bringing an end to Arsenal's four-year wait for a trophy. He told the club's AGM on Thursday that he is confident 2010 will be the year elusive silverware is landed, and he stands by those comments. "The quality of the team, the spirit of the team and the attitude they have everyday. That's why I am convinced," he said. "If you look at all the games across Europe, I don't see why we shouldn't believe that. It is my job to be positive."
