Wenger mulling over Vieira

Arsene Wenger is continuing to mull over re-signing Patrick Vieira and concedes nothing is likely to happen soon for the Gunners legend. Wenger is expected to hold transfer talks with the 33-year-old French midfielder this week regarding a free transfer move from Serie A champions Inter Milan. Vieria's time with Juventus and Inter has been disrupted by injury since he left Arsenal for £14million in 2005, although he has been injury-free in pre-season. Wenger, who has never re-signed any players whom he has sold during his 13 years with The Gunners, admits he has an un-written rule of never bringing back former players. The French tactician concedes his squad has enough strength and depth, but says there is every chance Vieira will come back as his presence will have a positive impact on their youngsters. Vieira is expected to return to the Premier League before the transfer window closes and Spurs and West Ham are reportedly ready to make a move if Arsenal opt against re-signing the veteran. General policy "I have a general policy about re-signing players but I never said I would never do it," explained Wenger. "I am not a big fan because I feel once the players have gone, they have gone. "If I want to call Patrick I can call his English number. But nobody will move at the moment. "Two weeks ago I didn't know if we would have Eduardo of Tomas Rosicky or not and they are both completely back so that makes the squad quite big. "I don't know it could have psychological impact on the rest of the squad. It is a possibility. First of all is it now sure he will decide to join us."
