Wenger hails Gallas form

// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Arsene Wenger has praised the performances of William Gallas this season with the defender forming an impressive partnership alongside Thomas Vermaelen.[LNB] Vermaelen may have stolen the headlines so far this season for his startling scoring form - the Belgian has five goals in 11 appearances - but the Arsenal boss has been just as pleased with Gallas' displays.[LNB]It marks a huge transformation for the 32-year-old who was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy this time last year for criticising the mentality of some members of the Gunners squad.[LNB]Wenger also revealed that he would look to sit down with the defender at the end of the year to look at extending his contract, which runs out at the end of the season.[LNB]Quality"William Gallas has had a fine start to the season, which is down to both his attitude and the quality of the player," he said.[LNB]"It can happen that any player has highs and lows in his career, but I must say his form now is a consequence of the way he behaves every day.[LNB]"He behaves 100 per cent as a professional and is highly focused in training."[LNB]PartnershipWenger was also pleasantly surprised with how quickly Gallas and Vermaelen had settled into playing alongside each following the latter's £10million switch from Ajax in the summer.[LNB]"The partnership between William and Thomas Vermaelen has gelled more quickly than I expected," he added.[LNB]"This is for two reasons, first of all, Vermaelen adapted faster, and secondly William fits more comfortably on the right side of a central defence than on the left."[LNB]
