Wenger: Clubs were in for me

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claims he had offers from other clubs over the summer. The long-serving Frenchman this week underlined his enduring commitment to the Gunners by signing a new three-year contract at the Emirates Stadium. Seeing the deal through to its conclusion would take the 60-year-old's stay at the north London club to 18 years. He says has never had any intention of leaving but that has not stopped other clubs attempting to acquire his services. "I love the club and I don't see myself going anywhere else," said Wenger after his side launched their new season with a 1-1 draw at Liverpool. "I believe I have one way only to show my commitment to this club - by signing a contract I have been offered. I didn't put the gun to anyone's head and I can only show one way how much I want to do well for the club. "I get offers but I always keep a note in my job that I go to the end of my contract. I wasn't ready to talk and for me it is important to focus and not talk about other clubs or opportunities that I have."
