Wenger: No Chamakh deal done
Published: 09 Feb 2010 - 11:22:16
The skilful Morocco frontman is out of contract at the end of the season, and so is free to talk to other clubs, and could pen a pre-contract. Wenger has long been a fan of the 26-year-old, and is reported to have had an £8million bid turned down last summer. Liverpool - Arsenal's opponents on Wednesday night - Inter Milan and West Ham have all been suggested as possible destinations. Wenger, though, insists: "We are talking to nobody. We are focusing on tomorrow's game. "I believe he talks to many clubs, what he is entitled to do. "He is free to sign a pre-contract. "He is free to sign where he wants but I cannot interfere in that." But Reds manager Rafael Benitez has conceded defeat in his attempts to sign Chamakh in the summer. The 26-year-old has reportedly hit out at Liverpool for being "fussy" over contract negotiations but Benitez is angry at the breakdown of the deal. "I think that we will not sign him - but I will not say [any more]," said the Spaniard. Marouane Chamakh's Club after Summer Transfer Window Join By End Of Summer Transfer Window: Arsenal 4/5
