Walcott handed Under-21s call
27 May 2009 - 17:27:24
Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has been included in the England squad for this summer's European Under-21 Championships
The 20-year-old is expected to feature for the senior team in World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Andorra before joining up with the juniors for the tournament in Sweden.
Under-21s coach Stuart Pearce told TheFA.com: "We are very pleased with the overall balance of the squad.
"We have three or four players who are extremely versatile and can play in a number of positions.
"We also have a young squad with the players such as Muamba, Cattermole, Gibbs, Welbeck and Rodwell all being available for the next campaign, so this experience will be vital for them.
"They may be young, but they have all had good experience with their clubs this season and we believe they are the finished articles at this level. I have every confidence in this squad."
Squad: Hart (Manchester City), Lewis (Peterborough), Loach (Watford); Cranie (Portsmouth), Gibbs (Arsenal), Mancienne (Chelsea), Onuoha (Manchester City), Richards (Manchester City), Taylor (Middlesbrough), Taylor (Newcastle), Tomkins (West Ham); Cattermole (Wigan), Driver (Hearts) Gardner (Aston Villa), Johnson (Middlesbrough), Milner (Aston Villa), Muamba (Bolton), Noble (West Ham), Rodwell (Everton); Walcott (Arsenal), Agbonlahor (Aston Villa), Campbell (Manchester United), Welbeck (Manchester United).
