Walcott focused on Gunners
05 Oct 2009 - 16:30:29
Arsenal forward Theo Walcott claims he is unconcerned at being overlooked for the latest England squad by head coach Fabio Capello.
Walcott marked his return to action following a long-term back problem with a goal during Sunday's 6-2 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
However, the 20-year-old was left out of Capello's squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine and Belarus later in the day.
Walcott was a surprise inclusion in the England Under-21 squad for June's summer European Championship but does not accept that his chance of being in Capello's final World Cup squad is in doubt.
Instead he is determined to play his way back to full-fitness for the Gunners before even considering his England chances.
"England has a great squad with a great bunch of lads and it is the same for Arsenal, with fantastic, world-class players," he explained.
"At the moment I am thinking about trying to get back into the Arsenal starting line-up and I am not really thinking about the World Cup.
"I don't look to the future. I will just try to keep playing well and see where it takes me."
