Walcott waiting on England call-up

Walcott has not featured for Fabio Capello's seniors this season, mainly due to injuries to his shoulder, knee and hamstring that have limited him to five Premier League starts for his club in the campaign.[LNB]England boss Capello, however, was at the Emirates Stadium this weekend to watch Walcott play well in the victory over Sunderland, and he may decide to use the 20-year-old in the friendly against Egypt at Wembley a week on Wednesday.[LNB]Earlier that day, Pearce's team face Greece at Doncaster's Keepmoat Stadium and it will be decided whether Walcott will play for the seniors or benefit from the intensity of an important clash on the under-21s' road to the European Championships in Denmark next year.[LNB]So far this season, Walcott played for the under-21s against Macedonia then missed the double-header against Portugal and Lithuania through injury.[LNB]Capello's situation has been complicated by Aaron Lennon being out with a groin problem since December, a setback suffered after he played in England's final three World Cup qualifiers.[LNB]It appeared that Lennon had edged ahead of Walcott in the battle for a place on the right flank of Capello's team, with Shaun Wright-Phillips and David Beckham the Italian's other options.[LNB]Just after Pearce names his squad, Capello is scheduled to board the plane to South Africa for FIFA's World Cup pre-tournament Team Workshop in Sun City.[LNB]The workshop will detail tournament organisation to national coaches and managers, with Capello also expected to check the playing surface at nearby Royal Bafokeng Sports Campus in Rustenburg, the proposed base for England during the tournament.[LNB][LNB]
