Van Persie suffers setback
18 Jan 2008 - 08:56:08
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Robin van Persie faces several more weeks on the sidelines with a troublesome thigh injury.
The 24-year-old Dutchman has endured an injury-ravaged 12 months since suffering a broken metatarsal against Manchester United last January.
That injury ruled van Persie out for the rest of the 2006-07 campaign and he has endured a stop-start season this term.
He sustained his current problem in the the Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Tottenham earlier this month and missed the draw with Birmingham City.
Van Persie, who has started only two games since early October, is joined on the sidelines by Johan Djourou who has a groin injury.
Wenger confirmed to the Gunners' official website: "Compared to last week we have Robin van Persie who is out for a few weeks.
"However, I believe Tomas Rosicky will be OK to come back (against Fulham).
"But Johan Djourou is out as well. He has had an inflammation of his groin and in the next two weeks he will not be capable to play."
