Van Persie wants more Gunners goals

Arsene Wenger's side made a blistering start to the season, scoring 15 goals in their opening four games as Everton, Portsmouth and Celtic were put to the sword in domestic and continental competition. Back-to-back defeats at the hands of Manchester United and Manchester City dented their early optimism, although they led at Old Trafford and were in contention for long periods at Eastlands before a late home flourish. Holland international Van Persie, whose only goal to date came in the 4-2 City reverse, therefore feels that converting more of the opportunities they create in big games will be essential. He told the Daily Mirror: "While there were lots of good things that we did in winning four games, there were a few bad aspects after that and we need to find the right balance to win matches like these. "When you see the matches against Manchester United and Man City, we had many chances and still lost. So we need to look in the mirror and try to do things better. "But in terms of creating chances, it's all good - the 4-3-3 formation really works. "We've seen shots hitting the bar or the post, or just going wide, and perhaps could have had a bit more luck with refereeing decisions as well."
