The player has made his statement unequivocally saying that he wants away, but in truth we have little or no factual information as to the basis or reasons for that statement.
If he's simply looking for money, then the decision is a simple one for the club - pay up or refuse and sell the player. It seems to me that negotiations are still ongoing, and that we may well see RvP in the red and white (of Arsenal!) next season having put pen to paper.
Has he lost the backing of the fans if he stays? - I think not.
Despite our protestations - which are mainly due to the frustration of yet another protracted summer 'will he/won't he' saga - we're a fickle bunch.
I hope he stays - I still love him.
