Tykes denied City scalp

Kolo Toure hobbled out of his Manchester City debut after an hour as Mark Hughes' side avoided defeat against a battling Barnsley side. City enjoyed long periods of dominance but substitute Daniel Bogdanovic was allowed room chase down a long ball and fire past Shay Given with seven minutes remaining, before Martin Petrov grabbed an 88th minute equaliser. Barnsley midfielder Jacob Butterfield gave the visitors a couple of nervous moments before the break. The 19-year-old forced Given into save of the half after 39 minutes and rattled the Irishman's crossbar three minutes before half-time. Bogdanovic went on to send Oakwell into raptures with what looked like being the winner but Simon Davey's men could not hang on when Stephen Ireland engineered space in the penalty area, crossing for Petrov to finish from close range.
