Arsenal central defender Kolo Toure has been suspended for three games after accepting an FA charge of violent conduct.

The Ivory Coast international was seen to elbow Newcastle United captain Alan Shearer in the back during the Gunners' 1-0 win at Highbury at the weekend and has decided to accept a resulting FA charge.

A statement on TheFA.com read: "Arsenal defender Kolo Toure has admitted a charge of violent conduct and will now miss Arsenal's next three matches.

"The charge related to an incident involving Newcastle United's Alan Shearer during the match at Highbury on Sunday 23 January."

Toure, who had been an ever-present for Arsene Wenger's side this season, will now miss the FA Cup fourth round tie with Wolves, as well as Premiership clashes against Manchester United and Aston Villa.
