Top 10: Title deciding games - 1 - Liverpool v Arsenal - 1989

The 1988-99 season ended with Arsenal and Liverpool facing off to decide the title on the final day of the season.

Liverpool started the game with a three point advantage over the north London club and with a marginally superior goal difference.

A 2-0 win for Arsenal at Anfield, would however see the title head South on goals scored.

Alan Smith put Arsenal 1-0 ahead in the 52nd minute before Michael Thomas bombed into the penalty area in injury time to slot past Bruce Grobbelaar to give George Graham's side the title.
