    Three-match ban for Eboue

    01 Mar 2007 - 16:26:30

Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has been found guilty of a Football Association charge of violent conduct relating to Sunday's Carling Cup final brawl with Chelsea and been hit with a three-match ban.

Eboue, who escaped any action during the match, had denied the charge issued for striking Chelsea's full-back Wayne Bridge in the stoppage time brawl which marred the Millennium Stadium showpiece.

The 23-year-old will now sit out Arsenal's forthcoming Premiership games with Reading on Saturday and Aston Villa and Everton later this month.

"At a disciplinary commission hearing, a charge of violent conduct was found to be proved. He will therefore serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect," confirmed an FA statement.

"Eboue was charged for striking Wayne Bridge during an incident towards the end of the Carling Cup Final on Sunday. He denied the charge."

Team-mates Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor have already been handed three-match bans after being sent off in the same incident.

Adebayor also faces an additional hearing next week after being handed a charge of improper conduct over his failure to leave the pitch following his dismissal.

Meanwhile, he FA have asked Arsene Wenger to explain his comments after the Arsenal boss accused one of the assistant referees of lying over the dismissal of Adebayor.
