Theo Walcott's worst injury fears averted

Published: 08 Sep 2010 - 20:14:35

There were fears of much more serious damage when he was rushed to hospital after just 13 minutes of England's 3-1 win over Switzerland but a subsequent X-ray showed no break or ligament damage. It is expected that he will be back playing once the bruising has subsided in around two or three weeks. It means Walcott will miss Arsenal's home match against Bolton on Saturday and Wednesday's Champions League tie with Braga, while he is also now a doubt for the looming matches against Sunderland and Tottenham.  Related ArticlesWalcott suffers ankle injury scareGerrard: England still have a lot to proveRobin van Persie out until mid-OctoberShawcross hits back at WengerWenger escapes FA punishmentWalcott focused on England futureArsenal are also without strikers Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner, although Sebastien Squillaci, Johan Djourou and Denilson are in contention to be in the squad to face Bolton after all three played the full 90 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday night in a 4-3 win over Blackburn.
