The Insider: Joseph Yobo, Peter Crouch, Mauro Zarate, Nicolas Anelka

Simon Jones is Sportsmail's man on the inside of all the major transfer moves this summer. His column, published every weekday, offers an insight into the deals which will be done and those that won't - and why. A 5/5-rating means The Insider reckons it's a done deal; 0/5 means The Insider has his mortgage on it not happening. Their is a desperate need to get players such as Joseph Yobo out the door to bring in new transfer funds. Fenerbahce have been reluctant to improve upon their ?2.5million offer but are now showing willing in pushing their bid closer to Everton's ?4m valuation. Yobo wants to gothere as he will pick up a decent salary and, match-fixing allegations apart, enjoyed his time on loan last season. Yobo is 30 and Everton want a younger replacement with Manchester City's Nedum Onuoha in their sights. Theyare also conscious that Arsenal maintain interest in Phil Jagielka and could come back with an improved offer but, at this stage, the player wants to stay at Goodison. Everton manager David Moyes also needs a striker and a wide midfielder but again are seeing if offers come in for other players first before they can move forward with targets they have identified. PeterCrouch did not figure in last night's Europa League tie with Hearts andthat means he will not be cup-tied for European competition. Itis clear that Tottenham are looking at him as a point of transfer funding. He is 30-years-old and can still attract a decent transfer fee with Tottenham looking to recoup close to the ?11million they paid to Portsmouth two years ago. TheEngland international is reluctant to go to Stoke but has admirers at Everton, Sunderland and Newcastle while QPR's new investment will also make them contenders - particularly as he wouldn't have to uproot from London. Crouch is recently married and has a baby daughter Sophia to consider when making his choice. He would prefer to stay at Tottenham but that may be difficult as they press to bring in Emmanuel Adebayor among others. Theinteresting development is that AC Milan, who watched him closely whilehe was at Portsmouth also, have Crouch on their list of potential strikers. Adebayor and Mario Balotelli also figure and, at the moment, Crouch may be easier to bring in.  MAURO ZARATELazio to Arsenal THE INSIDER says: 2/5 NICOLAS ANELKA Chelsea to Hamburg THE INSIDER says: 3/5 The former Birmingham striker has been on Arsenal's radar for some time. Theycame close to moving for him in January 2010 after making initial contact with his representatives but the asking price was an inflated ?35million.Rumours are rife in Italy that his brother Sergio is in London negotiating his sale to Arsenal and the story gathered pace last night after he was dropped for the club's 6-0 win over Robotnicki in the Europa League. The 24-year-old was sat in the stands and, typically, Lazio's Igli Tare refused to rule out any sale saying: 'If something happens between now and the end of the transfer window then we'll evaluate things.' However, it is understood Arsenal have not made an offer and are concentrating on trying to bring in a centre half and centre midfielder. Sergio has also popped up to say: 'Iheard that someone went to England to talk to Arsenal. It's all false. Iam in Nice and on Monday I will be in Italy. I spoke with Mauro and he was disheartened. There is no negotiation on the transfer market.' Expect that to change but maybe not to Arsenal. The Frenchman is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge. Despitehis renowned finishing ability and the lack of time he has spent playing in his preferred central role it seems Andre Villas Boas has made up his mind and is ready to sacrifice the 32-year-old. Anelka for his part is more than happy in London and feels very settled with life at Chelsea. ParisSt Germain showed a desire to bring him back to Paris early in the summer but Anelka was adamant he didn't want to go despite their new-found wealth. He has made no secret of his desire to try America but always planned that to be next summer at the earliest. Tottenhamhad been mentioned as various makeweights were mooted for the Luka Modric transfer but that wouldn't sit well with Daniel Levy and then Hamburg made an offer but were also knocked back. However, Frank Arnesen, who knows Anelka well, is considering a fresh approach. With the window close to closing and Anelka struggling to break into the first team line-up his chances are improving.     Don't miss your daily instalment of The Insider every weekday through the transfer window here at MailOnline
